The Cartier Santos 100 Ref W20073X8 features the iconic square-shaped case design with a polished bezel and exposed screws and the large blue spinal crystal cabochon that give Cartier its signature aesthetic.  The Santos was originally produced in 1904 and named after Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.  Santos-Dumont expressed his wishes for a timepiece to be worn on the wrist while flying, in lieu of checking a pocket watch, and Cartier delivered.  Set into production in 1911, the Santos has remained a historic part of the Cartier lineup and remains in production today.

More About The Cartier Santos 100 Ref W20073X8

The History

The Cartier brand was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier in Paris. In 1904, his grandson Louis developed the brand's first wristwatch at the request of Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The first design included a flat-faced watch with a square bezel and a simple-to-read dial. The watch was named the Santos and became Cartier's first wristwatch for men.

The Watch

The Cartier Santos 100 Ref W20073X8 features a brushed 38mm x 51mm stainless steel case with a polished bezel with exposed screws and a seven-sided heptagon-shaped crown with a blue spinal crystal cabochon.
