More About The Tudor Submariner Ref 79190 Blue Dial w/ Box and Papers

The History

Tudor began to produce watches in 1926 that could be marketed and manufactured as a more affordable timepiece than the Rolex line while still keeping the same standard of dependability that Rolex had become
known for. Over the years, the product line grew to include the renowned Oyster Prince and their diver watches, such as the Submariner series.

The Watch

The Tudor 79190 Submariner has a stainless steel case with a stainless steel 3-link Oyster-style bracelet.  It has a blue dial and a blue bezel insert.  The 79190 has a unidirectional bezel with a sapphire crystal, which was exclusive to the 79190 Submariner, as opposed to the more common submariner model, the 79090. There is a cyclops lens over the date window at the 3 o’clock position, as well as Mercedes-style hour
and minute hands and a lollipop seconds hand.  The Tudor 79190 also has the “T Swiss Made T’ marking on the dial above the 6 o’clock position, indicating the tritium lume on the hands and hour markers.  The
79190 is powered by an ETA 2824-2 movement with a 42-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200 meters.

The Details

This Tudor Submariner 79190 dates to the production year of 1997.  The case is in very good condition, with sharp case lines and chamfers present.  The bezel insert has some wear, which is visible in the photographs. This timepiece includes the original outer and inner boxes, original warranty paper, the Tudor red document holder, the factory service booklet, the operating manual, and a Tudor 9315 Oyster bracelet
with additional links and 380B end links.
