About This Watch:
Tudor drew its inspiration for the Black Bay Pro GMT Ref 79470 from one of the most beloved Rolex sports watches, the first Explorer II Ref 1655. Unique details specific to this piece separate the 79470 from the rest of the Black Bay line, such as the use of the raised, no-surround hour markers, which give this timepiece a vintage aesthetic along with the creamy colored lume plots and the mustard-yellow GMT hand.
The History: Tudor began to produce watches in 1926, that could be marketed and manufactured as a more affordable timepiece than the Rolex line, while still keeping the same standard of dependability that Rolex had become known for. Over the years, the product line grew to include the renowned Oyster Prince, as well as their diver watches such as the Submariner series.
The Watch: The Tudor Black Bay Pro GMT Ref 79470 features a 39mm polished steel case with a brushed finish 24-hour fixed bezel and a domed sapphire crystal. Powered by a COSC-certified Caliber MT5652 movement, the 79470 has a water resistance rating of 200 meters and a 70-hour power reserve. The matte black dial features lumed, raised hour plots without surrounds, snowflake-style hour, minute, and central seconds hands and a mustard-yellow colored GMT hand, and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. The riveted steel bracelet features a polished and satin finish and it fitted with Tudor’s “T-Fit” clasp with rapid adjustment.
The Details: This Tudor Black Bay Pro GMT Ref 79470 was purchased new in April 2022 and has never been worn.
