About This Watch:
The Sinn 158 Bundeswehr was released as a limited production run of 500 pieces. They are a re-edition of the original Bundeswehr military watches of the 1960s. The design of the Sinn 158 retains all of the original aesthetics of the original Bund, as it has the original 43mm case size, as well as the same bead-blasted stainless steel case, matte black pilots bezel with 60-minute scale, same chronograph dial layout with a date window at the 6 o’clock position, but with a modern Sellita SW 510 chronograph movement, which was based on the Valjoux 7750.
The History: The first Bund watches were created by Leonidas for the German military in the 1960s. Leonidas was later purchased by Heuer, and the watch became known as the Heuer Bundeswehr 1550SG. Its distinct styling and unique, wide black bi-directional bezel with easy-to-read Arabic numerals made it very popular with military pilots. In the late 1980s-early 1990s, Sinn purchased the remaining inventory of Bundeswehrs from Heuer and reconditioned and released them with the addition of the Sinn logo as the Bundeswehr for Pilots, Model 155 BW.
The Watch: The Sinn 158 has a matte, bead-blasted stainless steel case with a wide, bi-directional matte black bezel with a 60-minute scale. The crystal is domed acrylic with vintage crowns and chronograph pushers reminiscent of the original Bund watches. The hands and hour markers are lumed with Super Luminova, while the chronograph seconds and minute hands are a bright red. The 158 has a solid steel case back, with the limited edition marking of the production number in the series engraved. The strap is black leather with red stitching and a steel buckle.
The Details: This Sinn 158 Bundeswehr is in very good condition. It is number 194/500 in production. It has some slight wear marks at the outer edge of the bezel, and the crystal is scratch-free. The original leather strap and buckle are in very good condition. This set has the original boxes, guarantee card, manual, and strap-changing tool, as shown in the photos.
