1976 Seiko Bullhead Chronograph Ref 6138-0049

Seiko began its rich history in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop repairing and selling watches in central Tokyo.  Eleven years later, he opened a factory called the Seikosha Factory and began building wall clocks and pocket watches.  After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, which became the beginning of what we know as Seiko today.  A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers' watch.

The Seiko Bullhead Automatic Chronograph Ref 6138-0049 features a 43.5mm stainless steel case with the crown and chronograph pushers located at the 12 o’clock position, resembling a bull’s horns.  The fixed bezel features a copper-colored insert with a tachymeter scale.  The copper dial features two gold sub-dials at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions with a unique vertical day and date window at the 6 o’clock position.  The Bullhead is powered by the automatic in-house Caliber 6138B movement.

This Seiko Bullhead Automatic Chronograph Ref 6138-0049 dates to a production year of 1976.  Wear on the case is consistent with the age of this timepiece.  The case appears to be unpolished, with factory brushing and crisp lines present.  This timepiece includes the original Seiko 316L fishbone bracelet with a clasp.
