The Sinn 140 St SZ01 Chronograph was designed based on the original Sinn 140 S Chronograph, worn by German physicist and astronaut Reinhard Furrer. During the D1 Spacelab Mission in 1985, he wore the 140 S with a Lemania 5100 movement on his wrist to demonstrate that automatic watches can function even in a weightless environment.

  • The History:

Founded in 1961 by flight instructor and former WWII pilot Helmut Sinn, the Sinn Watch Company began developing both pilot chronographs and navigation cockpit clocks.  Helmet Sinn’s mission was to produce timepieces that were durable in extreme conditions.  In 1994, the company came under the direction of Lothar Schmidt, who has been the driving force behind the engineering and technological advances that Sinn has implemented in their watch-making techniques that continue today.

  • The Watch:

The 140 St SZ01 features a 44mm bead-blasted surface-hardened stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal.  The 140 St incorporates Ar-Dehumidifying Technology to increase the functional reliability and prevent fogging.  The black dial features an interior pilot’s bezel, lumed hour markers, sub-dials at the 6 and 9 o’clock positions, a date window at the 3 o’clock position, lumed hour and minute hands, an orange running seconds hand, and an orange chronograph “jet” hand. Powered by the in-house Caiber SZ01 movement, the 140 St features a 42-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

  • The Details:

This Sinn 140 St SZ01 Space Chronograph includes the outer and inner boxes, the warranty card, the strap changing tools, the manual, and the original Sinn bead-blasted surface-hardened bracelet.
