Fortis is one of the few watchmakers in the world that remains, to this day, an independent company with a rich history in Swiss watchmaking. Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. In 1926, Fortis, in collaboration with watch inventor John Harwood, created the first automatic watch to go into production, thus setting the stage for many of the major brands we see on the market today, such as Rolex, Omega, and more. Later, in 1940, Fortis pioneered the way for one of the first water-resistant watches ever built.

The Fortis Novonaut N-42 features a 42mm stainless steel case with a bi-directional rotating bezel with a blue ceramic insert and a sapphire crystal.  The blue sunburst pattern dial features applied lumed numerals, lumed hour and minute hands, an orange seconds hand, three sub-dials at the 12, 6, and 9 o’clock positions with orange counter hands, and both day and date windows at the 3 o’clock position.  Powered by the in-house WERK-17 automatic movement, the N-42 Novovaut has a 60-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200 meters.
