The Citizen Automatic Flyback Chronograph “Spider” Ref. 67-9119 is a distinctive and increasingly collectible Japanese chronograph from the 1970s, celebrated for both its technical capability and unconventional design. Powered by Citizen’s in-house Caliber 8110A automatic movement, it features a flyback chronograph function, allowing the timing hand to be reset and restarted instantly—an advanced complication for its era. Housed in a modestly sized ~38mm case, the watch earns its “Spider” nickname from the unique arrangement of its dial elements, where the lume plots and sub-dials create a web-like visual effect. Produced during a golden age of Japanese watchmaking, the 67-9119 stands out today as a charismatic and mechanically impressive alternative to its better-known Swiss and Seiko counterparts.

More Info
  • The History:

The Citizen Watch Company traces its origins to 1918, when the Shokosha Watch Research Institute was founded in Tokyo to make quality timepieces accessible to a broader public. The first watch to bear the name “Citizen” was introduced in 1924, reflecting that vision. The company formally adopted the Citizen name in 1930 and steadily expanded its reputation for precision and innovation. Over the decades, Citizen became a pioneer in watchmaking technology, notably with the development of its Eco-Drive system, which uses light as a power source, reducing
the need for battery replacements. Today, Citizen is recognized globally for its blend of advanced engineering, reliability, and commitment to sustainability in horology.

  • The Watch:

The Citizen Automatic Flyback Chronograph “Spider” features a 38mm stainless steel tonneau-shaped case with a mineral crystal and a solid case back. The black dial features a bi-directional inner rotating bezel that is operated by a secondary crown at the 10 o’clock position, lumed hour markers and hands, two sub-dials at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions, day and date registers at the 3 o’clock position, and an orange central chronograph hand.  Powered by the Citizen Caliber 8110A automatic flyback chronograph movement, the 67-9119 has a 40-hour power reserve.
