  • The History:

Fortis is one of the few watchmakers in the world that remains, to this day, an independent company with a rich history in Swiss watchmaking. Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. In 1926, Fortis, in collaboration with watch inventor John Harwood, introduced the first automatic watch to go into production, thereby setting the stage for the emergence of major brands on the market today, such as Rolex, Omega, and others. Later, in 1940, Fortis pioneered the way for one of the first water-resistant watches ever built.

  • The Watch:

The Fortis B-42 Marinemaster Cosmonaut Day/Date Ref 647.10.158.3 features a 42mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and a unidirectional rotating bezel.  The black dial features large lumed Arabic numerals, a 24-hour scale on the rehaut, lumed hour and minute hands, an orange lollipop-style seconds hand, and day and date windows at the 3 o’clock position.  Powered by an ETA 2836-2 automatic movement, the Cosmonaut Day/Date has a 200-meter water resistance rating.
