It’s well known that Squale crafted the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms cases for Blancpain during the 1960s, but when Squale CEO Andrea Maggi uncovered 180 new-old-stock “pre-Squale” Fifty Fathoms cases from the 1950s, he saw an opportunity to honor that legacy. Partnering with the Amsterdam Watch Company in 2020, Squale created a limited-edition collaboration to celebrate this remarkable discovery. Produced in three variants of just 60 pieces each, the Squale No Radiobino pays nostalgic tribute to one of the most iconic dive watches ever made.

  • The History:

Established in 1950 by Charles and Hellene Von Büren, the Von Büren SA Watch Factory was built in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.  Drawing inspiration from their shared passion for diving and water sports, the Von Bürens’
focus was to design timepieces that could handle sub-aquatic environments, a field of watchmaking that had yet to be explored.

  • The Watch:

The Squale No Radiobino features a 34.8 mm stainless steel case, with an original NOS acrylic domed crystal and an original friction-based bidirectional bezel featuring the original NOS acrylic inlay.  The matte black dial features the “No Radiobino” logo, which was used on
timepieces to indicate the difference between watches built for military use and watches for sale to the general pubic that had no radioactive lume material.  Powered by an ETA 2671 movement, the No Radiobino features a 38-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200
meters.  The stainless steel bracelet is a flat-link “new/old stock” Squale bracelet from the 1980s.

  • The Details:

This Squale No Radiobino is a one-owner timepiece.  It is number 16 of the 60 numbered pieces created for this limited edition production.  Included is the original outer box, the black leather Amsterdam Watch Company X Squale watch roll, the warranty card, the owner’s manual, the thank-you card from AWCo., the special edition history booklet, the original purchase receipt, and the original bracelet.
