The History:
The Cartier brand was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier in Paris. In 1904, his grandson Louis developed the brand’s first wristwatch at the request of Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The first design consisted of a flat-faced watch with a square bezel and a simple-to-read dial. The watch was named the Santos and became Cartier’s first wristwatch for men.
The Watch:
The Cartier Santos De Cartier Ref WSSA0018 features the iconic square-shaped stainless steel case in a 39.8mm size, with a sapphire crystal and a synthetic blue cabochon on the crown. The white dial features the classic Roman numerals with blued sword-style hands, an outer minute track that follows the square-shaped dial, and a date wheel at the 6 o’clock position. The Santos De Cartier is powered by an in-house Caliber 1847 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The bracelet and strap are fitted with Cartier’s quick-release system,
which allows for changing the strap or bracelet without the use of tools, and the bracelet features their proprietary “SmartLinks” bracelet adjustment system, which also allows for the removal of bracelet links without tools.
The Details:
This Cartier Santos De Cartier Ref WSSA0018 was originally purchased in October 2023 and includes the outer and inner boxes, the warranty card, tool, brown Cartier calf-skin strap with stainless steel Cartier buckle,
the plastic bezel protector, and the stainless steel Cartier bracelet.
