The Panerai Radiomir Black Seal PAM 183 is one of the Historic Collection Panerai timepieces.  Its 45mm case with wire lugs is reminiscent of the original Radiomir design worn by the Royal Italian Navy divers of the 1930s. The classic design of overlapping plates creates Panerai’s signature sandwich dial, with large Arabic-style numerals on the 12, 3, and 6 o’clock positions.

The History:

Beginning in 1860, Guido Panerai & Figlio in Florence, Italy, began producing high-precision instruments built for the Royal Italian Navy.  In 1938, as Officine Panerai, they began producing wristwatches for the Italian Navy Commandos, with the Radiomir and later the Luminor.  It
wasn’t until 1993 that they began to produce versions of the Radiomir and the Luminor for international sale to the public.

The Watch:

The Panerai Radiomir Black Seal PAM 183 features a 45mm stainless steel case watch with wire lugs, a domed sapphire crystal, and an exhibition-style case back with a sapphire crystal.  The PAM 183 is powered by a manual wind Panerai OP XI movement based on the ETA 6497/2 movement.  The black sandwich dial has perforations for the numerals at the 12, 3, and 6 o’clock positions and hour markers laid over a plate coated with Luminova.

This Panerai Radiomir Black Seal PAM00183 includes both outer and inner boxes, the Panerai Collection Radiomir booklet, the international guarantee booklet, the international guarantee certificate card and booklet, the chronometer certificate, and a brown Panerai leather strap with Panerai buckle.
