The Rolex Explorer II was created as a larger sibling to the Explorer I and designed with spelunkers in mind. With its 24-hour bezel markings and dedicated 24-hour hand, explorers navigating caves in complete darkness could easily distinguish between day and night by referencing the position of the 24-hour hand against the bezel. The Ref. 16570 was produced from 1989 through 2011 and remains one of the most versatile and collectible modern Explorer II references. This particular example is a highly desirable new old stock (NOS), one-owner, unworn timepiece, preserved in exceptional condition and offering collectors a rare opportunity to acquire an untouched example of this iconic Rolex sports watch.

  • The History:

  • The Watch:

The Rolex Explorer II features a 40mm polished stainless steel case with brushed lugs, a glossy black dial, and a brushed stainless bezel.  The markers, indexes, and Mercedes-style hands are white gold and filled with Super-Luminova.  The in-house Caliber 3185 movement powers the Reference 16570.

  • The Details:

This New Old Stock, Unworn Rolex Explorer II Ref 16570 dates to a production year of 2000, with an original purchase date in 2001.  This is a one-owner timepiece, with all original case and case-back stickers and the original bracelet clasp sticker present. The watch has been stored with the bezel protector on, which was removed during our photography of this timepiece.  Included with this 16570 is the original outer and inner boxes, warranty certificate, certificate holder, the serial number hang tag, the red chronometer hang tag, the Oyster booklet, the Explorer booklet, the Warranty booklet, the original plastic bezel protector, the Rolex polishing cloth, and the unworn Rolex Oyster 78790A stainless steel bracelet.
