Hong Kong artist Gabriel Lau (Labeg) gained popularity within the watch community through his unique artworks, featuring paper models of vintage timepieces, including vintage Rolex dive watches.  WMT (Watch Experimental Unit) collaborated with Labeg on this unique homage piece, transforming his cardboard watch art into a mechanical timepiece.

Created in 2018, the WMT or Watch Experimental Unit brand is based in Hong Kong. Specializing in creating custom vintage-inspired timepieces based on classic and iconic vintage pieces and collaborating with artists such as Labeg on design, each WMT watch is hand-assembled in Hong Kong, utilizing vintage techniques and materials such as bakelite bezels and hand-distressed dials to create a faux-tropical look.

  • The Watch:

The WMT X Labeg Sea Diver features a 38mm stainless steel case with a bidirectional rotating bezel, a domed acrylic crystal, and a unique crown with a BAPE (A Bathing Ape Brand) logo in relief.   The matte black dial features the watch artwork styling of artist Labeg, with a
hand-drawn design, including the outer minute track, patina-colored hour markers, and Mercedes-style hour and minute hands with a lollipop running seconds hand. Powered by an automatic movement, the WMT Labeg
Sea Diver has a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

  • The Details:

This WMT X Labeg Sea Diver is a one-owner piece and was originally purchased in October 2022 and includes the original box, user manual, and warranty card, the strap changing tool, additional spring bars, and the stainless steel WMT bracelet.
