About This Watch:

The Tudor Oyster Prince models were introduced in 1952, with the Prince moniker indicating the presence of a self-winding movement for the first time in the Tudor line. The Oyster Prince Ref 7809 featured the monoblocco-style two-piece case design, with the mid-case and bezel manufactured from one piece of steel, and a separate screw-down case back. On these pieces, the crystal was set from inside the case, forming a pressure seal once the case back was installed.

The History:

Tudor began to produce watches in 1926, that could be marketed and manufactured as a more affordable timepiece than the Rolex line, while still keeping the same standard of dependability that Rolex had become known for. Over the years, the product line grew to include the renowned Oyster Prince, as well as their diver watches such as the Submariner series.

The Watch:

The Tudor Oyster Prince Ref 7809 features a 35mm stainless steel case with gold plating and an acrylic crystal. The dial has developed a cream-colored patina, with a painted Tudor Rose logo. The applied hour markers are gold triangular shaped as are the tapered dauphine-style hour, minute, and second hands. The 7809 is powered by the self-winding Calibre 390 movement.

The Details:

This Tudor Oyster Prince Ref 7809 is in good condition. The case is still sharp, with some scratches and scuffs consistent with a timepiece of this age. The reference number and serial number are present on the coin-edge case back, which shows some nicks and scratches that are visible in the photographs. The radium lume plots on the dial are no longer present.
