The Cartier brand was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier in Paris. In 1904, his grandson Louis developed the brand's first wristwatch at the request of Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.
The first design consisted of a flat-faced watch with a square bezel and a simple-to-read dial. The watch was named the Santos and became Cartier's first wristwatch for men.

The Santos De Cartier Ref WSSA0047 features a 47.5 mm stainless steel case with a blue PVD-coated bezel and a sapphire crystal.  The silver dial features a striped pattern in the center, with applied Roman
numerals and lumed sword-style hour and minute hands.  A date window is located at the 6 o’clock position.  Powered by an automatic Caliber 1847
movement, the Santos De Cartier features a 42-hour power reserve and a 100-meter water resistance rating.

This Cartier Santos De Cartier Ref WSSA0047 was originally purchased in September 2022 and is still under the manufacturer's warranty.  This
timepiece includes both outer and inner boxes, the Cartier Care booklet, warranty card, strap tool, stainless steel bracelet, and the blue rubber strap with stainless steel deployant clasp.
