About This Watch:

Based on the Fortis B-42 series watches, the Fortis Aeromaster Chronograph Ref 656.10.141 is a pilot watch with a 42mm brushed steel case and a Valjoux 7750 movement, showcased through the exhibition case back. The dial pays homage to early Flieger watches with its use of a crosshair pattern on one of the sub-dials, like those seen on old fighter planes.

The History: While Fortis is a known name to horological enthusiasts and watch collectors, their name might now be as familiar to all. Fortis is one of the few watchmakers in the world that remains, to this day, independent despite its rich history in Swiss watchmaking. Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. In 1926 Fortis, in collaboration with watch inventor John Harwood, created the first automatic watch to be put into production, thus setting the stage for the likes of many major brands we see on the market today, such as Rolex, Omega, and more. Later, in 1940, Fortis pioneered the way for one of the first water-resistant watches ever built.

The Watch: The Aeromaster Chronograph features a 42mm brushed stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and an exhibition case back. The matte black dial features raised luminescent indexes, three sub-dials at the 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions, a day and date window at the 3 o’clock position, and lumed sword-style hands. Powered by a Valjoux 7750 automatic movement, the Aeromaster Chronograph has a 48-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200 meters.

The Details: This Fortis Aeromaster Chronograph comes on the original brown leather strap with a steel Fortis buckle with the Fortis crown logo. The case and bezel show some wear, which is visible in the photographs. There are scuffs in the AR Coating on the crystal. This timepiece includes the original leather box, owner's manual, Fortis hangtag, and warranty book.
