  • The History:

While Fortis is a well-known name among horological enthusiasts and watch collectors, its name may not be as familiar to everyone. Despite its rich history in Swiss watchmaking, Fortis is one of the few watchmakers in the world that remains independent today. Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. In 1926, Fortis, in collaboration with watch inventor John Harwood, created the first automatic watch to be put into production, thus setting the stage for the likes of many major brands we see on the market today, such as Rolex, Omega, and more. Later, in 1940, Fortis pioneered the way for one of the first water-resistant watches ever built.

  • The Watch:

The Flieger 597.11.141 features a 40mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal.  The black dial features lumed Arabic numerals, three sub-dials at the 12, 6, and 9 o’clock positions, day and date windows at the 3 o’clock position, lumed hour plots, lumed hour and minute hands,
and an orange central chronograph hand.  The Flieger 597.11.141 is powered by a Valjoux 7750 movement.

  • The Details:

This Fortis Flieger B-42 Chronograph includes outer and inner boxes, a black leather Fortis certificate holder, instruction booklets, the international guarantee booklet, and an aftermarket black leather strap with buckle.
