  • The History:

Fortis is one of the few watchmakers in the world that remains, to this day, an independent company with a rich history in Swiss watchmaking. Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. In 1926, Fortis, in collaboration with watch inventor John Harwood, introduced the first automatic watch to be put into production, thereby setting the stage for the emergence of many major brands on the market today, such as Rolex, Omega, and others. Later, in 1940, Fortis pioneered one of the first water-resistant watches ever built.

  • The Watch:

The Fortis Flieger GMT features a 40mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and a solid case back.  The black dial features large lumed Arabic numerals, a date window at the 3 o’clock position, lumed sword-style hands, an orange GMT hand, and a 24-hour scale in the center of the dial.  The Flieger GMT is powered by an ETA 2893-2 automatic movement with a GMT complication.

  • The Details:

This Fortis Flieger GMT Ref 596.10.148 includes the original metal Fortis case, the warranty card, the manual, and the original black leather strap with stainless steel buckle.
