  • The History:

Fortis is one of the few watchmakers in the world that remains, to this day, an independent company with a rich history in Swiss watchmaking. Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. In 1926, Fortis, in collaboration with watch inventor John Harwood, introduced the first automatic watch to be put into production, thereby setting the stage for the emergence of many major brands on the market today, such as Rolex, Omega, and others. Later, in 1940, Fortis pioneered one of the first water-resistant watches ever built.

  • The Watch:

The Fortis Flieger Ref 595.10.46 features a 40mm stainless steel case, a signed crown, and a solid case back.  The white dial features large Arabic numerals, tritium-lumed hour and minute hands, tritium lume around the hour markers, and a date window at the 3 o’clock position.  The Flieger 595.10.46 is powered by an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement.
