  • The History:

The Heuer brand was created in 1860 and specialized in stopwatches and chronographs.  Their focus was on instruments used in sports, such as dashboard timers.  However, the focus shifted for Heuer brands in the late 1950’s, early 1960’s, as the popularity of chronograph wristwatches was gaining momentum.  In 1962, when Jack Heuer, a race car driver and motorsport enthusiast, became head of the company, he spearheaded the creation of the Carrera watch.  

  • The Watch:

This Heuer Carrera Ref. 2447S is a first-generation version, with a flat eggshell-colored Swiss-only dial, and the serial number engraved on the case between the lugs at the 6 o’clock position.  The 2447S features a 36mm polished stainless steel case with an acrylic crystal. The flat eggshell dial features baton-shaped indices, pencil-shaped hour and minute hands, and sub-registers at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions.  The Carrera Ref 2447S is powered by a manual-wind Valjoux 72 chronograph movement.

  • The Details:

This Heuer Carrera Ref 2447S includes a black rally-style leather strap with a stainless steel Heuer buckle. The dial and hands have been re-lumed using new-old-stock tritium lume.
