Founded in 1868 by an American watchmaking pioneer, Florentine Ariosto Jones, the International Watch Company launched in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.  Nestled on the banks of the Rhine River, IWC’s factory began its pursuit of manufacturing watches of the highest quality, utilizing modern technology and some of Switzerland’s most talented
watchmakers.  The Aquatimer was first introduced to the public at the Basel Fair in 1967 as one of the first true dive watches, with the independent setting of internal and external bezels.

The IWC Mark XII Automatic features a 36mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and a screw-down case back.  The matte black dial features Arabic numerals, with a triangle at the 12 o’clock position and
a date window at the 3 o’clock position.  The hour markers at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions as well as the hands are lumed with tritium. Powered by a Jaeger LeCoultre Caliber 889/2 Automatic movement, the Mark XII has a 40-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 60 meters.

This IWC Mark XII Automatic is in very good condition, with some wear present that is consistent with a timepiece of this age and visible in the photographs. The original tritium lume has developed a nice patina on the hour markers and hands. It also includes an aftermarket black leather strap.
