The History:
Kurono Tokyo was established in 2019 by Japanese independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka. It is a brand focused on making Asaoka's distinctive design language accessible to a broader audience. Kurono Tokyo utilizes
third-party movements while maintaining full control over case design, dial aesthetics, and assembly in Japan. Each release is limited, often selling out quickly due to its design appeal.
The Watch:
The Kurono Tokyo Chronograph II “Shiro” features a 38mm stainless steel case with a highly domed sapphire crystal. The multi-layer dial features a combination of lacquered white and grey sectors, red accents, with recessed sub-dials, a tachymeter scale, a minute track, and a date window at the 6 o’clock position. The hands are polished steel, leaf-shaped, with a "Kyudo" arrow-shaped elapsed minutes hand. Powered by a Seiko NE86 movement, the Kurono Tokyo Chronograph II features a
45-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 30 meters.
