About This Watch:
With a limited production run of 2500 pieces, the Seiko Ref SBDX031is a recreation of one of the most iconic Seiko dive watches of all time, the 6105 “Captain Williard”. The Prospex SBDX031 is manufactured at the Seiko Shizukuishi Watch Studio, where Seiko’s premier timepieces, such as Grand Seiko and Credor, are produced. With details such as a zaratsu polished finish on the upper bezel surface, a Calibre 8L35 movement with a 50-hour power reserve, and a water resistance rating of 200 meters, the SBDX031 is a modern update to a timeless classic. The History: Seiko began its rich history in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop repairing and selling watches in central Tokyo. Eleven years later, he opened a factory called the Seikosha Factory and began building wall clocks and later pocket watches. After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, which became the beginnings of what we know as Seiko today. A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers watch.
The Watch: The Seiko SBDX031 features the classic styling of the asymmetrical stainless steel 45mm case with a solid case back with a sapphire crystal. The bezel features Seiko’s patented zaratsu polishing process along the upper edge of the bezel. Powered by the automatic Calibre 8L35 movement, the SBDX031 features a 50-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200 meters. The black dial has applied lumed indices for the hour markers and lumed stick-style hands. The SBDX031 is a limited edition piece with a production of only 2500 timepieces.
