Seiko began its rich history in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop repairing and selling watches in central Tokyo.  Eleven years later, he opened a factory called the Seikosha Factory and began building wall
clocks and pocket watches.  After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, which began what we know as Seiko today.  A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers watch.

The Seiko Prospex SLA037 features a 39.9mm case made of Seiko’s Ever-Brilliant steel with a unidirectional rotating bezel and a highly domed sapphire crystal.  The case has a brushed finish at the top with
zaratsu polished sides.  The dial is a deep blue color with applied lumed hour markers, stick-shaped lumed hour and minute hands, and a date window at the 3 o’clock position.  Powered by the hi-beat Caliber 8L55
movement, the SLA037 has a 55-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200 meters.
