About This Watch:

The Seiko Prospex Marinemaster Emperor Tuna Ref SBDX014 is a purpose-built dive watch designed to withstand the harshest environments at the most extreme depths. Based on the historic Tuna-series dive watches, the Emperor Tuna features iconic stylings such as the monobloc case and highly legible dial configuration, with Grand Seiko's updated Caliber 8L35 movement.

The History: Seiko began its rich history in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop repairing and selling watches in central Tokyo. Eleven years later, he opened a factory called the Seikosha Factory and began building wall clocks and pocket watches. After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, which began what we know as Seiko today. A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers watch.

The Watch: The Emperor Tuna features a 52mm Titanium case with a protective black ceramic shell, a sapphire crystal, and rose gold plating on the crown, screws and bezel. The matte black dial features large luminous indexes, lumed hands with rose gold accents, and a date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. The SBDX014 is powered by an automatic Calibre 8L35 movement with a 50-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 1000 meters.

The Condition: This pre-owned Seiko Prospex Marinemaster Emperor Tuna Ref SBDX014 shows minimal wear, as visible in the photographs. This timepiece includes the original silicon strap with a rose gold-plated titanium Seiko buckle.
