  • The History:

Seiko began its rich history in 1881, when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in central Tokyo to repair and sell watches.  Eleven years later, he established the Seikosha Factory and began manufacturing wall clocks and pocket watches.  After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, marking the beginning of what is now known as Seiko.  A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers’ watch.

The Seiko SLA042 / SBDX038 features a monobloc 52.4mm
titanium case with a black ceramic shroud, gold-plated accents, a gold-plated unidirectional rotating bezel, a gold-plated crown at the 4 o’clock position, and a sapphire crystal.  The black dial features lumed hour markers, lumed hands, and a date window at the 3 o’clock position.  Powered by the Caliber 8L35 automatic movement, the SLA042 / SBDX038 features a 50-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 1000 meters.

Included with this timepiece is the original Seiko black rubber strap with a gold-plated Seiko buckle.
