Produced as a limited edition of 1,100 pieces, it features a robust 44.8mm case crafted from corrosion-resistant Ever-Brilliant steel, paired with a deep blue dial and a unidirectional bezel designed for serious underwater use. At its core is the high-frequency Caliber 8L55 automatic movement, beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour and offering approximately 55 hours of power reserve, delivering both precision and smooth operation.   • The History:

Seiko began its rich history in 1881, when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in central Tokyo to repair and sell watches.  Eleven years later, he established the Seikosha Factory and began manufacturing wall clocks and pocket watches.  After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, marking the beginning of what is now known as Seiko.  A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers’ watch.

The Prospex SLA039 is a limited-production timepiece, with only 1100 numbered units.  The SLA039 features a 44.8mm Ever-Brilliant steel case with a sapphire crystal, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and the crown at the 4 o’clock position. The blue dial features a gradient pattern, with applied Luma-Brite indices, a date window at the 3 o’clock position, and a pencil-shaped lumed handset.  Powered by the high-frequency Caliber 8L55 automatic movement, the SLA039 features a 55-hour power reserve and a 300-meter water resistance rating.
