Heuer was founded in 1860 and specialized in stopwatches and
chronographs.  They focused on instruments used in sports, such as dashboard timers.  However, Heuer's focus shifted in the late 1950s and early 1960s as chronograph wristwatches gained momentum.  In 1962, when Jack Heuer, a race car driver and motorsport enthusiast, became head of the company, he spearheaded the creation of the Carrera watch.  

The TAG Heuer Carrera Caliber 1887 Jack Heuer features a 45mm titanium and black carbide-coated titanium “bullhead” style chronograph case, with the crown and chronograph pushers at the top of the case, a sapphire crystal, and an exhibition case back. The center case, which holds the “stopwatch” portion, is made of stainless steel.  The dial features an outer dark grey ring with a sunburst pattern and applied hour markers, an inner silver sunburst dial with the Carrera logo near the 12 o’clock position, a lumed handset, a red central chronograph seconds hand, a small running seconds hand, and a date window above the 6 o’clock position.  Two sub-dials sit at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions.  The Carrera is powered by the automatic Caliber 1887 movement and
features a 50-hour power reserve.

This TAG Heuer Carrera Caliber 1887 Jack Heuer Edition includes the original black alligator leather strap with a red underside and black carbide-coated titanium deployant clasp.
