The History:
The Waltham Watch Company was founded in the United States in 1850 and continued to produce timepieces, clocks, compasses, and other instruments through 1957. The company built a manufacturing plant in Waltham, Massachusetts that has been preserved as the American Waltham Watch Company Historic District. Leaving the consumer watch market in 1957, the company moved to Chicago and built a new production facility in Neuchatel, Switzerland, in 1962. By 1968, the company had changed hands and sold to the Invicta Watch Company of Switzerland.
The Watch:
The Waltham Field & Marine Dual Time features a 43mm stainless steel case with a gunmetal grey coating, a domed sapphire crystal, and a unique crown locking system that was designed similar to how a bayonet
knife would attach to a rifle barrel. The grey dial features applied indexes, a 24-hour subdial at the 6 o’clock position, a vintage-colored lume on the hour and minute hands, a power reserve indicator at the 12
o’clock position, and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. Powered by a Soprod Caliber 15 movement, the Dual Time has a 42-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 300 meters.
